Drivers in Wilsonville, Portland, and Woodburn can learn all about the new Ram with an in-depth 2021 Ram 2500 review from Dick’s CJDR of Wilsonville.
Ram 2500 Trim Levels
One of the biggest perks of the Ram 2500 is its customization. The Ram comes in several trim levels: the Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. The Tradesman is a work outfit with vinyl interior touches for durability and a 5.0-inch touch screen infotainment system.
Moving up from the fleet model, the Big Horn adds power features and high-end touches, as well as an optional 8.4-inch touch screen infotainment system. From there, the Ram gets more and more luxurious, adding leather upholstery, larger touch screens, country-western styling, and creature comforts. If you want off-road capability, the Power Wagon is your trail-ready model with Bilstein shocks, off-road tires, a winch, and locking differentials.
Ram 2500 Towing Capacity and Performance
Every Ram model is equipped with a 410-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8 engine that produces 429 pound-feet of torque, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The uprated Cummins® 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-six can be had with 370 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque or 400 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque.
Depending on your chosen configuration, the Ram 2500 towing capacity reaches up to 19,860 pounds when properly equipped. The Ram is available with regular, crew cab, and oversized crew cab models. Crew cabs get either 6-foot-4 or 8-foot beds, while oversized crew cab models get a 6-foot-4 bed. The payload rating reaches up to 4,010 pounds, plus there’s additional cargo space inside the cab.
Ram 2500 Safety Features
The Ram 2500 is available with a variety of advanced safety features, such as a surround-view camera system to see all around the vehicle and blind-spot monitors, a standard feature for upper trim levels that alerts you to vehicles traveling in your blind spots. Other standard safety features include hill-start assist for a boost on hills and trailer sway damping. This feature adjusts the brakes to control excessive trailer movement.
Several features are available with the Safety Group package, such as a digital rearview mirror that gives you a sightline with a fully loaded cargo area. Adaptive cruise control, a feature which adjusts your cruise speed to maintain a safe distance, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-path detection, a feature which warns you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during lane changes, are also included in the package.
