2020 Jeep Gladiator Review
Jeep made a pickup truck. That’s right, you read that correctly—the 2020 Gladiator is Jeep’s newest creation, a pickup truck that’s ready to help you trample on all the obstacles standing in your way. Feel free to contact us anytime at Dick’s CJDR of Wilsonville to get behind the wheel for yourself…
Our team is all about helping the drivers around Wilsonville, Woodburn, and Portland with a test drive.
Utility: What Can the Gladiator Do?
Here’s the simple answer to that question: Between a best-in-class 7,650-pound towing capacity and a best-in-class available 1,600-pound payload capacity, Jeep’s 2020 Gladiator can do a whole heck of a lot.1
Now here’s the longer answer to that question. Its 5-foot cargo bed is outfitted with a three-position tailgate, LED cargo lighting, and four integrated tie-down loops, which means that it’s ready for pretty much any gear that you’re ready for. You can also upgrade to an available in-bed power outlet (115 volts and 400 watts), as well as the available Trail Rail™ System (which can be further customized over time).
Versatility and Off-Road Capabilities
Now that you can tow and carry pretty much anything that you’d need for an off-the-beaten path adventure, the next question is how far off the beaten path can the 2020 Jeep Gladiator take you?
The long and short of it is, well—far. With standard heavy-duty Dana® 44 axles, skid plates, and tow hooks, it’s the only Trail Rated® pickup truck ever built.2 It’s also got some of the top specs of any pickup truck on the market when it comes to traction, water fording, maneuverability, articulation, and ground clearance.
Last, but certainly not least, its 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine is the hardworking powerplant that allows the rest of the off-road magic to happen, with its impressive output of 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
A New Take on the Iconic Jeep Design
Moving on to an aesthetic take, the new Gladiator is one of the most strikingly designed vehicles that you’ll see all year. Much of its beauty comes from the fact that it transplants that beloved Jeep look onto the body of a truck. It also gives you plenty of customizable options for when you’re building your model, including:
- Top: No Top, Zipperless Sunrider® Soft Top, Body-Color Hardtop, Black Freedom Top® Hardtop
- Wheels: Black Steel, Silver Aluminum, Granite Crystal Aluminum, Black Aluminum, and others
- Colors: Punk’n, Firecracker Red, Sting-Gray, Granite Crystal, Bright White, Black, Hydro Blue, etc.
You can also choose between doors and…well…no doors, depending on how much you love the fresh air.

We also forgot to mention that the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is engineered to achieve up to 16 miles per gallon in the city and up to 23 miles per gallon on the highway, which is simply remarkable for a pickup truck.3
